Speaker's Statement

The minister has announced the results of the nominations for Select Committee Chairs in the House of Commons. The deadline for nominations passed at 4 pm today, and several committees received a single nomination, with the candidates being elected unopposed. These include the Backbench Business Committee, Culture, Media and Sport Committee, Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee, Health and Social Care Committee, Northern Ireland Affairs Committee, Petitions Committee, Treasury Committee, and Welsh Affairs Committee. The minister congratulated the members concerned on their election. The minister also stated that a ballot will be held on Wednesday, September 11th, between 10 am and 4 pm in Committee Room 15, for the remaining posts. A final list of candidates and their supporters will be made available in the Vote Office later this evening.
