Summary

In the House of Commons, a minister has delivered a statement regarding a new Bill. The minister began by congratulating the Deputy Speaker on their recent elevation to the role. The minister then stated that the British people had voted for change in the general election and had voted for the party's promise to establish the first new national, publicly owned energy generation company in the country for over 75 years, known as Great British Energy. The minister declared that with this new Bill, the government is delivering on that promise. The minister emphasized that British public ownership is now at the heart of the country's energy system. Addressing the members of the party behind the minister, the minister acknowledged that it is thanks to their victories in their respective constituencies that the government can now begin to create a lasting legacy for the country, one that breaks from 14 years of failure. The minister asserted that this 14-year period had left Britain exposed to the volatile fossil fuel markets, which had directly led to the worst cost of living and energy bills crisis that the country has seen in generations. The minister expressed confidence that the new publicly owned energy company, Great British Energy, will help to address these pressing issues and provide a more stable and reliable energy system for the people of the United Kingdom.
